Seaside Highland Games & Clan Sinclair Gathering  

Hi cousins.  I'd like to invite you all to the Seaside Highland Games in Ventura, California on October 13th and 14th.  As you know, Clan Sinclair will once again have the privilege of having our Chief, the Right Honorable Malcolm Sinclair, Earl of Caithness, joining us for our AGM at this beautiful setting.  Located between the rugged Los Padres National Forest and the rolling Pacific Ocean, Ventura was founded more than 1500 years ago as a Chumash Indian village.  It takes it's modern name from Mission San Buenaventura, established in 1782 by Father Serra as the ninth of California's 21 historic missions.  Now old meets new in Ventura.  From the historic mission, the Olivas Adobe and the Albinger Archaeological Museum to the new artist gallery, wineries, five star dining and fabulous shopping, Ventura offers California at it's best.  Can you think of a better place to be in October?  Join us on the beach for a true California experience.

How to Get to Ventura:  Nearby airports you can fly into are  Los Angeles (LAX), Burbank or Santa Barbara.  For information about shuttle and bus service from LAX to Ventura, please visit supershuttle.com and lawa.org.  From Burbank, there is train service to Ventura and Amtrak has a station at the Ventura fairgrounds.

Tentative Schedule of Events:   Between what Clan Sinclair USA has planned and the schedule of games events, there are plenty of activities to keep us more than occupied for each of the three days of the Seaside Highland Games.

Friday, October 12 -

5:30-9:30 PM - Clan Sinclair Hospitality Room (Western Vice President Don Sinclair’s room) will be open.  Be sure to visit the Suite to meet and fraternize with your Sinclair cousins.
                Clan Sinclair USA has not made any dinner arrangements for Friday evening so attendees are “on their own” and are encouraged to take advantage of the great restaurants in the area.

Saturday, October 13 -

9:00 AM - Gates open
10:00 AM - AGM Meeting at the Clan Sinclair tent at the 
                fairgrounds
11:30 AM - Prepare for the Clan March
12 Noon - Opening Ceremonies, Mass Bands and Grand           Parade
4:30 PM - Mass Bands and Awards
6:30 PM - Meet & Greet, Crowne Plaza Hotel, no host bar
7:00 PM - Clan Sinclair BBQ to be held on terrace
                overlooking the beach

Sunday, October 14 -

9:30 AM - Kirkin’ o’ the Tartans
12 Noon - Mass Bands on Main Street
4:30 PM - Closing Ceremonies
